Not my cup of tea

My wife has been on a near lifetime crusade of trying to ‘improve me’.

She calls me a ‘work in progress’.

These ‘issues’ range from washing my hands in the kitchen sink, when I should obviously be in the utility room – to using a wooden spoon with certain pans rather than a metal one.

My cooking has too much butter, too much salt and is generally too much meat.

After a walk – dog and I are both made to stay outside whilst we are cleaned.

The dish washer is a constant source of conflict with Mrs. C often emptying everything I’ve put in… to enable it to be laid out ‘correctly’.

One of her other ‘bugbears’ is my language.

She hates my swearing and often cringes when I make a comment – correcting me saying “Why don’t you just say – he’s not my cup of tea ..” rather than my more direct comments of… “What a f**king a***hole”…

So, I found myself the other day in a conflict with another motorist on the junction of the M60 and the M57 …I would normally have given full vocal argument with his driving style and his gestures out of his widow but instead I found myself shouting…. “You’re not my cup of tea” …

Must admit… it shut him up.
