Grrrrr…..

I’m a dinosaur. I recognise this and celebrate my age and the upbringing that I’ve had. I was brought up to be proud of my country, respect the police, respect my elders and to be polite in public circles.

My ethos growing up was always… ‘Do unto others what you would have them do unto you …’ this has served me pretty well and still continues to be at the front of my mind when dealing with most situations.

However, more and more I am finding my patience being stretched by people that will take advantage if you appear weak.

Neighbours have started parking in front of our house. Nothing bad there you may think – but the way the road is outside our house, it makes it almost impossible to get out without risking your life pulling into a busy highway when you can’t see what’s coming.

I wanted to say something – but my wife said, ‘No…they will stop doing it once they realise it’s awkward for us …’

What has actually happened is that now everyone seems to think it’s ok to park on those sections of road and we now have a daily problem of life threatening reversing.

Another neighbour has recently got chickens. Let me be clear, we don’t live next to a farm – this is chickens on a row of houses in an urban setting. The chickens wander around away from their home, the chickens crap everywhere and make a right bloody mess.

I wanted to say something but my wife said, ‘No – we don’t want to fall out with the neighbours.’

We now also have a rat problem, caused by the neighbour feeding the chickens scraps of food which they leave out in front of their house.

Our house is on a section of road leading up to the Snake Pass in Glossop. The road has become a race track. On clear weather weekends and evenings, it’s like living on Brands Hatch race track. They stop in front of our house late at night and discuss the modifications to their cars and the times that they’ve set racing across from Sheffield.

I want to go out and tell them to f**k off and stop disturbing everyone but my wife said, ‘No – you might get knifed or beaten up’ ….

I reported them to the police – who expressed no interest whatsoever – as they were busy chasing tax paying, middle income, hard working businessmen over their breach of 70mph limits on the motorway systems.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

IT’S TIME TO FIGHT BACK.

Oh hang on my wife’s just come in and asked me what I’m writing …. ‘No – you can’t write that …somebody might read it …’
