Hmmm not something his wife has ever heard. Mike Clough’s typical mantra is …‘You get what you pay for’ or… ‘Don’t spoil the ship for a ha’porth of tar’…

So it was with some surprise that I found myself buying some gut health tablets from the nasty cheap Amazon delivery service.

Mrs. Clough has been getting me to take a little more care of myself over recent years – drink more water / eat more fibre / walk 10,000 steps a day …try these gut health tablets.

So, I’ve been doing as she asked and actioning all her requests resulting in more trips to the bathroom and cramp in both legs from excessive walking. The gut health tablets were great and my indigestion and acid reflux stopped after only a couple of days.

On finding myself running low on gut health tablets I went online to see what the cost of the tablets were….

…£27 for 30 tablets …(Mike thinks …jeez that’s nearly a quid a tablet…..)

So being the canny businessman that I am I decided to shop around and get a cheaper price. I found what appeared to be the same tablet on Amazon for £12 and they would be delivered the next day.

Result. Money saved.

I started these new tablets the next day.

Everything seemed ok until I realised that I wasn’t going to the bathroom and was in fact really constipated.

I told my wife what I had done and she immediately threw the new tablets away and gave me the original supplement.

Within a couple of days everything was back to normal.

This got me to thinking about our prices and how people view our service. We’ve noticed recently that price is the only aspect of our service that people seem to be interested in.

The costs of living crisis has dented people’s spending and they want to ensure that they are getting the best possible price for the works that they need undertaking.

I think the comparison is clear – ‘Don’t get constipated’ being a synonym for ‘Don’t get left with Japanese knotweed on your property’ ….

If a price is ridiculously cheap.

They’re cutting corners.

You WILL be left constipated.
