The Japanese Knotweed Code of Practice
The knotweed code of practice for Managing Japanese Knotweed on development sites has recently been re-launched by the Environment Agency.
The new code encouranges early identification of Japanese Knotweed on site and provides a large section on identifying rhizome. By identifying the problem sooner rather than later, costs can be reduced, land purchase prices can be re-negotiated and treatment can commence preventing further spread.
Dealing with infestations on site are also encouranged - either with chemical treatments or by excavating contaminated material and managing on site rather than transporting off-site to a licensed landfill.
