JKSL apply for major research funding

As a resident company of Lancaster University Environment Centre (LEC) Japanese Knotweed Solutions Ltd has access to a number of exciting research opportunities. Presently JKSL Research and Development is in the process of applying for a Northwest Development Agency R&D Grant of up to £125,000 as part of its ongoing project aimed at finding more environmentally sound and efficient ways of eradicating the problem plant.

This research aims to develop novel and patentable treatment techniques, as other patented methods, developed within the industry, have been met with limited success and are unapproved as control methods by the Environment Agency.

The ongoing project includes devising and management of various MSc. student projects, from a short literature review based study, undertaken by JKSL’s first MSc student, Anthony Plumb of The Arley Consulting Company Ltd, to a longer term investigation of the historical spread of Japanese Knotweed across Europe, using GIS methodology.

Japanese Knotweed Solutions Ltd are also members of the Lancaster based Contaminated Land Forum and hope to extend their series of UK wide seminars to Lancaster and include companies dealing with all aspects of contaminated land. This will strengthen links between resident companies at Lancaster University and aid progression towards the goal of a ‘one stop shop’ for clients seeking contaminated land remediation.
